Ontario Parks offers free day use for all on July 20, 2018 as part of their Healthy Parks, Healthy People Initiative! You can spend the day at Balsam Lake or Emily Provincial Park for free!
Emily Provincial Park is located on the Pigeon River and has excellent fishing, boating, and paddling opportunities as you are connected to the Trent Severn Waterway. Your family can enjoy one of 300 campsites, including 170 electrical sites to accommodate large recreational vehicles. Balsam Lake Provincial Park is located on Balsam Lake in Kirkfield and has a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as; hiking trails, biking, fishing and boating, we also offer watercraft and bicycle rentals. The park has 506 campsites which include electrical, non-electrical, waterfront and walk-in “Eco-Sites”. Balsam Lake is responsible for managing two non-operating parks, Indian Point Provincial Park is located in Coboconk and is home to the longest stretch of natural shoreline in the Kawartha Lakes. The park offers scenic walking trails, birding and wildlife viewing opportunities, there is no camping at this park. Queen Elizabeth ll Wildlands Provincial Park is a 33,505 hectare park that contains more than 100 habitat types and is a vast biological engine renowned for its rock barrens, and beaver fens. The park provides a unique opportunity for a sustainable, semi-wilderness recreation experience for the avid backcountry enthusiast. The park is non-operating with no maintained public facilities or services. At this time, backcountry sites are non-reservable and are first come first serve. Not only does 2018 mark the 50th anniversary of Balsam Lake Provincial Park, it marks the 125th anniversary of Ontario Parks. In honour of their 125th anniversary, Ontario Parks is promoting five legacy projects across the province, such as the restoration and upgrade of the Balsam Lake Waterfront Trail, a popular trail amongst cyclists and hikers.
