Location: The City of Kawartha Lakes is located on the northeast border of the Greater Toronto Area. The land is over 3,067 square kilometres (757,848 acres) composed of a mix of urban and rural areas with over 60 named lakes (there are actually over 250 lakes). The major urban areas in order of population count are Lindsay (20,050), Bobcaygeon (3,150) and Fenelon Falls (2,800). The Trent Severn Waterway traverses through the centre of the City via a network of navigable rivers and locks linking the Pigeon, Sturgeon, Cameron, Balsam, Mitchell, Scugog and Canal lakes.
