Boating in Kawartha Lakes

Although there's room for just about any kind of floating transportation on our lakes and rivers, power boats are the most common sight in the locks and along the docks. And no wonder — in communities all along the Trent-Severn Waterway, you can tie up the boat and take a stroll through picturesque towns and villages offering antiques, up-to-the-minute fashions and restaurants ranging from casual to fine dining.
Lock stations feature clean washrooms, picnic tables and information on the waterway, not to mention some of the friendliest and most helpful staff around.
As of September 15th, 2009 all boat operators in Canada must have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card or risk expensive fines* for more information visit www.tc.gc.ca/marinesafety or visit www.boaterexam.com to complete an online test to obtain your card.
