Kawartha Lakes are well-known for world-class fishing for walleye, trout, bass, panfish, and more on our many lakes. Our many lakes, rivers and streams provide excellent opportunities for anglers to try their luck.
The warm water fishery consists of species such as Walleye, Small and Large Mouth Bass, Muskellunge, Yellow Perch, Bullhead, Sucker, and Carp. Northern Pike are also present. Trolling rocky outcrops or dropping a line from the dock, Kawartha Lakes is a popular destination for avid anglers.
Each lake has its own characteristics that make it a favourite for fishing fans:
Balsam Lake
Depth: 14.9 metres at the depest point on average is about 5 metres deep Shoreline: 63 kilometres Species: Pickerel, Muskie, Lake Trout, Bull Head, Rock Bass, Sunfish, Smallmouth Bass, Perch and Largemouth Bass Did You Know?: Balsam Lake has the highest elevation in Kawartha Lakes?
Cameron Lake
Depth: 18.3 metres at the deepest point and averages about 6.3 metres Shoreline: 23 kilometres Species: Pickerel, Muskie, Carp, Rock Bass, Sunfish, Lake Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass and Perch Did You Know?: Cameron Lake is relatively small, therefore manageable for new boaters
Shadow Lake
Depth: 22 metres at its deepest and averages 7.8 metres Species: Pickerel, Lake Trout, Muskie, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Sunfish, Carp and Bullhead
Four Mile Lake
Depth: 19.2 metres at its greatest depth, and averages about 8.5 metres Species: Pickerel, Lake Trout, Muskie, Sunfish, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass
Pigeon Lake
Depth: 14.9 metres at the deepest point and averages about 3 metres Shoreline: 123 kilometres Species: Rock Bass, Sunfish, Largemouth Bass, Carp, Muskie and Pickerel Did You Know?: Pigeon Lake, which can be weedy in the south end, has a good overall fish communities and is known for its top-notch muskellunge fishery.
Sturgeon Lake
Depth: 10.6 metres at the deepest point and on average is about 3.9 metres Shoreline: 85 kilometres Species: Lake Trout, Muskie, Brown, Bullhead, Carp, Rock Bass, Sunfish, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Perch and Pickerel Did You Know?: Sturgeon Lake has a very distinct "Y" shape
