Agriculture
The Kawartha Lakes has a strong history of agriculture and rural living. Today, the City of Kawartha Lakes is the 4th biggest municipality in beef cow numbers, home to a world class seed production facility and a regional centre for farm marketing with a livestock sale barn and large commercial grain elevators. The Kawartha Lakes is also home to the largest community pasture in Ontario.
